The default One UI experience has a horizontal scrolling app drawer and no options to change how this characteristic functions. In the past, Good Lock users could switch to a vertical scrolling drawer, but Samsung took that option away. Now, a Samsung Community moderator confirms it is coming back.

According to a post on a Samsung Community thread (via @theonecid), the Home Up component of Good Lock will offer an option for vertical app drawer scrolling later this year.

More specifically, the post from the Good Lock support team states that they are developing this option for Home Up and are “preparing to provide [it] in One UI 6.1.1.”

However, the schedule is not set in stone and is subject to change in case of unavoidable circumstances.

One UI 6.1.1 might be released this summer

One UI 6.1.1 is the expected sequel to the One UI 6.1 update that debuted with the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung has yet to confirm when One UI 6.1.1 will be released, but the update will likely debut with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 devices. At least, judging by how One UI 5.1.1 went official alongside the Galaxy Z5 series last year.

As to when the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 might go official, last week, we exclusively reported that the next Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event will take place in early July. We couldn’t confirm the location, but reports from Korea say Unpacked may be hosted in Paris just before the Summer Olympics.

If history is any indication, One UI 6.1.1 probably won’t be released for too many devices before One UI 7.0 hits the beta stages, likely near the end of 2024. Therefore, it is possible that the update that will bring a vertical scrolling apps drawer to the Home Up Good Lock module won’t be available for many Galaxy devices initially.
