Volkswagen unveils Taigun and Virtus GT Plus Sport variants: ID.4 EV coming soon

German automotive giant Volkswagen India has unveiled the all-new Taigun GT Plus Sport in India. Bookings for this model have already commenced, and customers can reserve this new variant of the Taigun compact SUV. This new variant boasts a blacked-out appearance and gets a number of other cosmetic upgrades.

Apart from this, Volkswagen also unveiled the Taigun GT Line variant as well. In addition, the company has also unveiled the Virtus GT Plus Sport and all-electric ID.4 as well. These unveilings took place at Volkswagen’s Annual Brand Conference 2024.

According to Volkswagen, the Taigun GT Plus Sport variant is the ‘dark styled’ avatar of its popular mid-size SUV. It will boast a number of aesthetic upgrades that will add to its sporty appearance. It will be offered in all existing color options of the Taigun.

The main highlight of this new variant will be its black-colored trim across the exterior and interior. On the outside, the main highlights will be carbon steel-colored roof, black-colored roof rails, glossy black B-pillar, glossy black C-pillar garnish, and black-colored ORVMs.

Apart from this, it will also get black-colored window bar, DLO (Day Light Opening), dark chrome outside door handle garnish, GT Logo in red color, black LED headlamps, 17” Cassino black alloy wheels, and red front brake calipers. It will also get a few more minor exterior aesthetic upgrades.

Coming to the interior, the main highlight will be black-colored headliner, red ambient lighting, aluminum pedal, red stitching, black leatherette seat covers, and glossy black dashboard décor + edgy opulence inserts.

Volkswagen will now be offering its Taigun model in three different trim plans: ‘GT Edge’, ‘Chrome’, and ‘Sport’. These plans cater to different customer preferences and styles stated the company.

With the new ‘Chrome’ line, customers will have the option to choose between two engine options. The first will be the 1.5L TSI EVO with 7-speed DSG & 6-speed manual transmission.

The other will be 1.0L TSI with 6-speed automatic transmission & 6-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, the ‘Sport’ line introduces the above-mentioned GT Plus Sport variant. Additionally, the company has also unveiled a new variant called the GT Line variant. This will allow customers opting for the 1.0L TSI powertrain to get GT badges on their cars.

As for another unveiling, the company has also unveiled the new ID.4 all-electric crossover. Volkswagen has confirmed that it will be launching the ID.4 in the coming months in India. The exact details of the variants and battery packs for the Indian model have not been revealed by the company.

In the international markets, the ID.4 gets both single-motor and dual-motor options. The first single motor variant comes equipped with a smaller 58 kWh battery pack. This EV drivetrain produces a maximum power of 204 bhp.

On the other hand, the top-spec dual motor, all-wheel-drive variant gets a larger 77 kWh battery pack. The total output of this EV drivetrain is 334 bhp. As for the range, the 77 kWh battery pack variant offers 410 km of range in the all-wheel-drive layout.

It also offers 442 km of range in the rear-wheel-drive layout. Coming to the variant with the 58 kWh battery pack. It offers a maximum driving range of 336 km of range.
