WhatsApp may soon add emoji message reactions to Channels

Meta-owned popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp keeps developing new features to improve user experience. The company is now developing a new feature for the WhatsApp Channels which rolled out earlier this year. According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has rolled out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program. The latest beta update shows that WhatsApp is working on a message reaction feature for channels. This feature is currently under development and is expected to be available for more users with an upcoming update.

Recently, the platform started widely rolling out a message reaction feature for community announcement groups for more beta testers. This feature enables users to easily react to messages shared in the community announcement group. For reacting to community messages, WhatsApp users also don’t need to reveal their phone numbers to unknown members of the community. Now, the company is planning to bring message reactions to WhatsApp Channels.

How will message reactions work on WhatsApp Channels
The report also shared screenshots to explain how WhatsApp will implement emoji reactions in Channels. As per the screenshot, the company is working on a new “Channel settings” section. This new section will allow admins to manage certain options for their channels. Admins will be able to manage which reactions followers can send to their WhatsApp channel.

Meanwhile, the third option will disable message reactions on the channel. Admins can select among the options according to their preferences.
