18 People Travelling In Mahindra Scorpio Is A Very Bad Idea: Reasons

0 33

When traveling to rural areas in India, we often find Multi Utility Vehicles (MUVs) loaded to the brim with people and goods. People living in these areas often rely on these vehicles as a mode of transport. We have seen that people usually use cars or MUVs like the Force Trax Toofan or Sumo for this purpose. However, we have now come across a new video where 18 people were seen getting out of a Mahindra Scorpio. While this may seem like fun, we’ll explain why it is a very bad idea to do so.

Proper usage of Suv

The video was shared by Cars India on Reddit and was recorded somewhere in North India. In the video, we see a fully loaded Mahindra Scorpio SUV. It appears that a family got too ambitious and decided to take all the members in the SUV at once. The door opens, and people start getting out one after the other.

The rear suspension of the Scorpio SUV is completely compressed, and we see the height increase every time a person gets down. In total, there were 18-19 people, including the driver, in the Mahindra Scorpio. It seems they were all traveling to a venue for some function.

Why is it a Bad Idea?

The video doesn’t show the car being driven with so many passengers; however, we assume that the driver has already done so. Driving a car with so many people is extremely dangerous as the vehicle is overloaded. The Mahindra Scorpio is a 7-seater SUV designed for 7 or 8 people at most. In this case, however, there are 11 more people in it, which exceeds the weight that the SUV can handle. The chances of an overloaded vehicle losing control are quite high. Luckily, nothing like that happened; however, if it were to occur, all the occupants would have been seriously injured.

Overloaded Scorpio

As we are talking about overloading, it should be noted that driving an overloaded vehicle is illegal, and if cops spot the vehicle, they can actually stop you and issue a fine for the same.

Overloading affects the performance of a vehicle too. The acceleration becomes slower, and the braking would also be vague. The chances of the vehicle overheating during long trips also increase as you are making the engine work more to move the car.

The next point is from the passenger’s point of view. If you are in this overloaded Mahindra Scorpio, you won’t be able to wear the seat belt, making the drive a lot more dangerous. There are several examples from the past that show how important it is to wear a seatbelt.

The chances of a tire burst are also pretty high. Every tire has a tire load index, which is a code that indicates the maximum weight that a tire can safely carry when it is inflated to the recommended air pressure. In this video, the weight was way more than the limit for sure. When you put more pressure on a tire than what it can handle, the tire would simply burst. When that happens, the car would lose control and would end up in an accident.

This is an extremely dangerous stunt, and we would really urge people not to do such things on public roads. By doing this, the 18-19 people in the car are not just putting their own lives at risk but also the lives of other road users.
