1Password for Android now supports passkeys

In December 2023, AgileBits started testing support for passkeys in 1Password for Android with the beta version of the app for the OS. Now, the company has announced that it has added support for passkeys to the stable version of the 1Password app for Android, making it available to everyone. With it, 1Password now supports passkeys across all major operating systems, including Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows. The platform also supports passkeys in all the popular web browsers, including Chrome, Edge, and Safari.
In the announcement post, AgileBits says that to use passkeys in the 1Password app for Android, you have to get the latest version of the app from the Play Store and need to be running Android 14, which means that on Samsung smartphones and tablets, passkeys in 1Password will work only on devices running One UI 6.0 and One UI 6.1.
Once you download the latest version of 1Password, go to any app that supports passkeys, select the option to start using passkeys, which you can find on the login screen or in settings, and when prompted, select 1Password for saving your passkey. The next time you are on the login screen, a pop-up from 1Password will appear on the display asking you if you want to use the passkey to log in. Click on ‘Continue’ and voila, you will get logged into the app. Recently, WhatsApp and Windows 11 also brought support for passkeys.
