Mahindra has been testing the new generation of Scorpio for a few years now. We do know that Mahindra will launch the SUV this year because 2022 marks the 20 year anniversary of the Scorpio. Till now we have seen several test mules of the Scorpio while it was on a test. Now, the interior of the 2022 Scorpio has been shot in detail.

The video is uploaded on YouTube by UCL (upcoming car leaks). The YouTuber spotted the test mule on Bangalore highway and clicked a bunch of pictures of the interior. These pictures reveal a lot about the interior design and the features that the new-gen Scorpio will come with. It is important to note that the variant that we see in the pictures is the higher-end one so the features that it is equipped with might not be available on the lower variants. Moreover, it was equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox and probably was the diesel engine considering the red line in the instrument cluster is set at 5,000 rpm.

The first picture that we see is of the steering wheel. It is the same multi-function unit that we have seen on the XUV700 but it does not get piano-black touches. However, it does come with Mahindra’s new twins-peak logo and leather wrap with a flat-bottom design. The door handles are covered in chrome and stalks used by Mahindra are also the same ones as the XUV700.

The rear occupants do get rear AC vents, blower controls and a USB port. The instrument cluster is from XUV700’s MX variant. It seems like the instrument cluster has not been updated for Scorpio as well can see an image of the XUV700 in the instrument cluster. The display is showing tyre pressure monitoring system, tyre direction, alerts and other vehicle data.

There is a touchscreen infotainment system which is of a new generation. It does support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.  The infotainment system still comes with shortcut buttons, a tuning knob and a volume knob. 2022 Scorpio will also come with an electric sunroof and roof-mounted speakers. There is a centre console but it is not clear whether it will have a cooling function or not. Moreover, we can see that the cabin is finished in brown theme.

The boot space is minimal with all three rows standing up. Speaking of third-row, it was earlier reported that Scorpio will come with side-facing seats. However, because this is the higher-end variant, it has front-facing third-row seats. The tailgate is still side hinged and gets a door handle on the inside as well as outside. The test mule is equipped with captain seats for the second row. There is a lever that can be used to fold the seat. This will be used for accessing the third-row seats. There are also side steps present that help in easy ingress and egress.
