2023 Honda City facelift reaches dealerships before the official launch
Ahead of its official launch on March 2, the facelifted Honda City has been seen in its full glory at one of the authorized dealer outlets in India. A video of the new version of the City in its top-spec variant has surfaced on the internet, which shows the updates the midsize sedan has received inside-out.
In the pictures, we can see the facelifted Honda City in a new Obsidian Blue paint shade, which was not offered in the currently-available pre-facelifted model. The exterior of the new Honda City looks mildly tweaked with revised front and rear bumpers with sportier lower designs. At the front, the facelifted City also gets a mildly tweaked grille, which looks sharper and gets a honeycomb design.
While the new Honda City retains its all-LED headlamps and tail lamps, the side profile gets a new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels. While the exterior has been tweaked with noteworthy changes, the interior of the new City remains more or less unchanged, with it still having the same black and beige layout with faux wood inserts. In terms of features, the Honda City petrol will also get the full suite of ADAS functions, which was earlier restricted only to the hybrid version.

Compared to the pre-facelift version, the new facelifted Honda City will now be available in a new base-spec SV variant, in addition to the V, VX and ZX variants. The SV variant will solely be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox and will come with lesser features on board compared to the previous base-spec V variant. In addition, the City Hybrid, which was earlier available only in the range-topping ZX variant, will now be offered in a lower-spec VX variant too.
Only petrol engine options
The facelifted Honda City will continue to be available with the 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated 121 PS petrol engine and a 1.5-litre 126 PS petrol-hybrid powertrain. Both these powertrains have been upgraded and made compliant with BS-VI stage-II emission norms. However, the previously-available 1.5-litre 100 PS diesel engine has been discontinued and will not be offered in this facelifted version. These two engines have also been upgraded to make them compliant with E20 (20 per cent ethanol blend).
Once launched, the Honda City will be a head-on rival to the all-new Hyundai Verna, which is also slated to be launched in March 2023. The City will also compete with other midsize sedans like Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
