2023 Hyundai Venue with more features and Creta’s diesel engine launched
Ahead of the implication of RDE norms, which will be effective from April 1, 2023, Hyundai has introduced some new updates to its compact SUV, especially its diesel-powered variants. The new Hyundai Venue will now be available with a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) for its 1.5-litre diesel engine. With this, the Hyundai Venue diesel now claims 116 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque, similar to other more premium offerings like Verna and Creta.
Earlier, the Hyundai Venue diesel was powered by the same engine but with a fixed geometry turbocharger (FGT), resulting in a lower state of tune – 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque. This same powertrain was also offered in the diesel-powered variants of the i20 hatchback. However, due to the stricter emission norms planned for Stage-II BS6, this version of the diesel engine has been discontinued.
While the diesel variants of the i20 have been discontinued altogether, Hyundai decided to upgrade the diesel Venue with the same engine, but in a more powerful state of tune with the VGT. For now, the Hyundai Venue diesel will only be available in three variants – S+, SX and SX(O), with the prices of diesel Venue starting at Rs 10.40 lakh. However, the diesel variants are solely available with a 6-speed manual, with Hyundai having no plans to introduce a diesel-automatic version of the compact SUV.

Alongside updating the diesel-powered variants of the Venue, Hyundai has also introduced a few new changes, which are common to both petrol and diesel versions of the SUV. The Venue now comes with an integrated starter generator (ISG) with a start-stop function.

In addition, the equipment list has been reshuffled across the variant lineup of the Venue. The 16-inch machined alloy wheels are now available only in the range-topping SX(O) variant, while side airbags are not offered from S(O) variant onwards. For the petrol version, the curtain airbags are offered only in the SX(O) variant, while they are offered in both SX and SX(O) variants of the diesel version. Also, the rear seat recliner and rear seat armrest are now deleted from the diesel versions, though they will continue to be offered in some variants of the petrol version.
Hyundai has also upped the prices of petrol variants of the Venue, with the price hikes ranging between Rs 6,000 to Rs 25,000 across all the petrol variants. The Venue will continue to compete with other compact SUVs like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
