21-year old driver arrested in Rajasthan [Video]

In the most recent advancement in the case of hit and run that happened in Sola, Ahmedabad, Gujrat it has been reported that the driver of the BMW X5 luxury SUV Satyam Sharma has been arrested by the police authorities. According to the Ahmedabad city crime branch authorities, the accused who is a 21-year-old man was arrested from Dungarpur, Rajasthan. The man was on the wanted list after he crashed his BMW SUV into a couple who were returning to their home near BR Park Crossroads.

The crime branch police claim that they received information indicating that the suspect Satyam Sharma, a resident of Sahajanand Palace in Thaltej, was concealing himself in Dungarpur. He was apprehended by a criminal branch squad that arrived at the said place. Following his arrest, it was found that the accused after fleeing the scene of the crash and abandoning his car near Nilgiri Apartments in Sola ran and took a bus to Dungarpur to avoid getting caught by the police.

Satyam Sharma is the son of a builder in the city of Ahmedabad and has an already bad record. He was once caught by the police authorities intoxicated in February. Also he has previously been booked for vandalizing a local pan shop as well. This incident was reported from December of 2022.

In this most recent case Sharma as mentioned crashed his speeding BMW X5 SUV into a couple who were returning from the market after buying water gun for their child. It was reported by the complainant Amit Singhal, 44, a resident of Vedant Shreeji near BR Park Crossing, in his FIR with the N Division traffic police that he and his wife Meghna, 40, both, left their home at around 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday to buy a pichkari for their small child at a party venue nearby.

He stated in his FIR that he then saw the vehicle driving from the railway over bridge in the direction of BR Park as they were leaving. Following this, the car then came and crashed with both of them. In his report, he added that he has suffered multiple fractures in his legs and his wife has suffered fractures in her legs and hips.

The complainant disclosed that he witnessed the car fleeing the scene of the collision and heading towards the Shukan Mall Junction. He further mentioned in his FIR that they were then escorted in an ambulance to a neighboring hospital. Also, a few onlookers at the scene of the incident attempted to follow the automobile, but after traveling barely one km, Satyam abandoned the vehicle and fled the area.

Following the crash and abandoment of the car it was also reported that the Sharma glasses and bottles whisky along with snacks and water in the car. Furthermore it was also reported that the accused also shared some stories on social media platforms showing his car’s speedometer which was well over 150 kmph.

As of yet it has not been reported as to what charges will be put on the accused although it has been suggested that a preliminary case for inflicting severe injuries by risking the life or personal safety of another person, along with additional offenses under the Indian Criminal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act have been levied on the acquitted man.
