0 7

After the successful launch of facelifted 2024 Creta, HMIL (Hyundai Motors India Limited) is all set to launch 3 more SUVs in the Indian market. These include: Alcazar Facelift, Tucson Facelift and the much anticipated Creta EV.

Let’s learn about each new launch in detail –

Alcazar Facelift

The facelifted Hyundai Alcazar is expected to be launched sometime in mid-2024. Design changes include a refreshed front look (similar to that of the new Creta), new headlamps, daytime running lights (DRLs), a revised grille, new alloy wheels, and a redesigned rear bumper. The interior is expected to mirror the changes seen in the Creta facelift – a dual-screen layout with a 10.25-inch infotainment system and digital instrument displays.

Engine options are likely to remain the same as the current model. This includes the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 160 PS and 253 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

The 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 116 PS and 250 Nm will also continue, offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. The Alcazar facelift will compete with established rivals such as the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra XUV700 in the Indian market.

Tucson Facelift

The facelifted Hyundai Tucson is expected to sport a redesigned grille, new daytime running LEDs, redesigned alloy wheels and a tweaked front bumper design. Minor revisions are also expected for the rear bumper and tail lights. There is not much information available about the changes to the interior but the facelift is expected to have only minor changes.

The engine options for the Indian market are expected to remain the same, with a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine producing 156 bhp paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox,, and a 2.0-liter diesel engine producing 186 Bhp paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The facelifted Hyundai Tucson will compete in the segment that includes cars such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and Citroen C5 Aircross.

Creta EV

The Creta EV is an all-electric version of the popular SUV and is based on the recently launched facelift. The Creta EV is expected to replace the Kona EV, and compete in the same segment. Design highlights include a closed grille at the front, which might get a charging port, and aerodynamically efficient wheels. The cabin is expected to be the same as the Creta, with a wide full-TFT cockpit and gray upholstery.

The Hyundai Creta EV is reported to get an LG-sourced 45 kWh battery pack, offering a maximum real-world driving range of 250 km. The battery pack of the Creta EV is smaller than the MG ZS EV and larger than the Tata Nexon EV Long Range.

The front-mounted electric motor setup, with 140 PS-255 Nm, is expected to be shared with the second-generation Kona EV sold overseas. The Creta EV will compete with Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV. The launch timeline is yet to be officially confirmed but word on the street is that the Creta EV will be launched sometime next year. With regular updates and launches, Hyundai is solidifying its position in popular SUV segments of India.
