The deliveries of the much-awaited Jimny started recently and many customers eagerly waiting for the new SUV are finally getting their hands on the vehicle. This has to be the oldest customer of Maruti Suzuki Jimny in India and the story is shared by her son, who also is a Jimny owner.

Harmit Ahuja shared posts on social media platforms saying that her 83-year-old mother gifted herself a Maruti Suzuki Jimny automatic. He also shared a video of his mother taking the delivery of the car. Harmit says that her mother is approaching 83 years old and we believe that she has to be the oldest (by age) customer to own the five-door Jimny in the world.

There are pictures of Harmit himself in his own car as well. He owns the manual variant of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. Both the models are of exact same colour though. His mother was also seen on the driver’s seat of the Jimny.

Jimny is easier to drive compared to Thar

Maruti Suzuki Jimny is much easier to manoeuvre compared to Thar and Gurkha. There are several reasons for the same. First of all, the Jimny has compact dimensions, which ensures that you do not need to worry about driving in peak traffic hours. It is compact and takes up much less space on the road.

Other than that, the Jimny also is much easier to manoeuvre because it is much lighter in weight so moving it around does not require much force. That is why Jimny turns out to be much more practical for daily use and commute compared to the Thar.

These are the reasons we might get to see many elderly citizens and women choosing the Jimny over the Thar and Gurkha in the market.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny features an all-black cabin theme. In the top-spec Alpha variant, it is equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include automatic climate control, a push start-stop button, electrically adjustable and foldable rearview mirrors, and steering-mounted controls for audio, Bluetooth, and cruise control. Safety-wise, the Jimny comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic stability control, traction control, reverse parking sensors, and a rearview camera.

Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny offers a single powertrain option. It is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The engine produces a maximum power output of 104.8 PS and a maximum torque output of 134.2 Nm. The manual versions offer a fuel efficiency of 16.94 kmpl, while the automatic variants deliver 16.39 kmpl. Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro four-wheel-drive system is standard across all variants of the Jimny.
