Mohanlal, a renowned Malayalam movie actor, is famous for his roles in various Indian language movies. He is also known for his love of cars and owns several classic and modern cars in his garage. We have previously featured some of these cars on our website. Recently, it was superstar Mohanlal’s birthday, and like most of us, he received a gift from his friend. Mohanlal’s friend, Alex K Babu, the Managing Director of Hedge Equities, gifted him a brand new Kia EV6 electric car. The video of Mohanlal receiving the car has already surfaced online.

Electric cars are slowly gaining popularity among buyers in India, and celebrities are no different. Many popular Indians drive electric cars, some of whom we have featured on our website. Mohanlal is the latest addition to the EV tribe. This is probably the first electric car in Mohanlal’s garage. Last year, Kia introduced the all-new EV6 as its first and only electric car in India. Kia imports the EV6 as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and initially planned to sell about 100 units in India. However, Kia received an overwhelming response with over 355 bookings on the day of its launch.

On the design front, Kia has given the EV6 sleek-looking DRLs at the front, along with a pair of LED headlights that complement the overall front look of the car. The design is undeniably futuristic. Moving a little further below, an air intake visibly expands the front of the car. Kia offers the EV6 in five colors: Yacht Blue, Aurora Black Pearl, Runway Red, Snow White Pearl, and Moonscape. Mohanlal received the EV6 in the Aurora Black shade, which looks premium.

Just like the exterior, the interior of the Kia EV6 looks premium as well. The EV6 features an all-black color scheme with black suede seats and vegan leather bolsters. It comes equipped with 64-color ambient lighting, an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, a vegan leather-wrapped steering wheel, an anti-glare rearview mirror, a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, sporty alloy pedals, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, multiple drive modes, a smart key, push-button start/stop, a 10-way adjustable driver seat with memory function, and much more. Additionally, it includes paddle shifters for regenerative braking, connected car features, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, LED headlamps with adaptive driving beam, dual 12.3-inch curved screens, Shift by wire, rain-sensing wipers, and more.

Kia offers the new EV6 with a single 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides a maximum range of 528 km on the WLTP cycle. The battery supports ultra-fast charging, which adds 100 km to the range in just 4.5 minutes. Charging the battery of the Kia EV6 from 10% to 80% using the 350 kW fast charger takes about 18 minutes, while using a 50 kW charger takes approximately 73 minutes. The RWD single motor unit packs 225 Bhp and 350 Nm. Kia claims that the EV6 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds. The starting price for the Kia EV6 is Rs 60.95 lakh, ex-showroom. Apart from Mohanlal, former captain of the Indian Cricket team, MS Dhoni, has also purchased a Kia EV6.
