Aespa Announce Movie Theater Screenings for First Concert Film
Aespa will give fans around the world the chance to watch their first show ever in the U.K. with a new concert film hitting movie theaters April 24 and 27.
Aespa: World Tour in Cinemas marks the K-pop outfit’s first concert film, and it was filmed during their gig at London’s O2 Arena last September. The show was part of Aespa’s extensive 2023 SYNK: Hyper Line Tour, which included concerts across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
The concert film will feature performances of Aespa hits and favorites such as “Spicy,” “Girls,” Next Level,” “Black Mamba,” and “Savage.” These will be accompanied by individual performances from the quartet — Giselle, Ningning, Karina, and Winter — plus interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.
Tickets for the special screenings will go on sale March 27 at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT via the film’s website, where a list of participating theaters is also available.
“Since this is our first world tour, it will always hold a special place in our hearts as it gave us the opportunity to see MYs from all over the world,” Aespa said in a statement. “‘Til we meet again… we hope you enjoy our first concert movie and keep an eye out for the exclusive content behind-the-scenes.”
The announcement of the concert film also coincides with the news that Aespa contributed a track to Songs of Rebellion, an EP inspired by the characters of the upcoming Rebel Moon sequel. Aespa collaborated with Tokimonsta on their song, “Die Trying,” which was inspired by the character, Nemesis.
“Being able to collaborate with K-pop act Aespa was incredible, especially as a Korean American,” Tokimonsta said of the track. “Nemesis’ heroic strength, which arose from the depths of tragedy and darkness, fueled my creative process throughout the track.”
Along with touring the world last year, Aespa released two EPs: My World, which arrived in May, and Drama, which dropped in November. The group was also part of Rolling Stone’s “Musicians on Musicians” series, linking up with Grimes for a conversation about AI, digital avatars, real life selves, and more.
