Ahead of WWDC 2023, Apple Music Classical app rolled out to Android devices

0 49

Apple Music Classical app is now available for users on Android even before the app is available on iPads and Mac devices. The app is available on Google Play Store and can accessed with an Apple Music subscription. Android users around the world except China, Japan, Korea, Russia and Taiwan can start downloading the app on their devices Android 9 or above.

The launch of Apple Music Classical for Android is expected to free up some time for the new app and other launches at the WWDC 2023 developer conference. This year’s developer event will be held from June 5 to June 9. The company is expected to make a number of announcements at this year’s WWDC, including its first mixed reality headset, iOS 17, Apple Watch 10 and a 15-inch Macbook Air laptop.

Apple Music Classical was launched by the company in March 2023. The app was immediately available on iPhones while Android devices had to wait till today for the app.

At the time of the app’s launch in March, Apple said: “Apple Music Classical is a dedicated app that is great for classical experts as well as anyone who is new to classical, with the largest classical music selection in the world, the very best search and browse capabilities, the most premium sound experience with Spatial Audio, and thousands of exclusive recordings”

With Apple Music Classical, Apple Music subscribers have access to more than 5 million tracks of classical music through a new, streamlined search engine that lets users search for music using a combination of keywords, from composer and work to opus number, conductor, artist or instrument, and even a work’s nickname.

The new app is home to more than 800 years of music with albums added every week as classic recordings are remastered and contemporary performances are captured in Spatial Audio.

Apple had acquired music streaming service Primephonic in 2021, and later announced plans to launch a new classical music app. This is similar to how the company transitioned Beats Music for Android to the Apple Music app.
