Akasa Air elevates its game with a bold move, ordering 150 Boeing jets at ‘Wings India’ air show. Aiming high in Indian aviation, plans for global expansion.

At WINGS India 2024, Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline, has solidified its position in the aviation industry with a firm order of 150 fuel-efficient Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The order, comprising 737 MAX 10 and 737 MAX 8-200 jets, signifies a significant step in the airline’s expansion plans, ensuring a steady stream of aircraft deliveries until 2032.

This announcement at the Hyderabad-based event makes Akasa Air the sole Indian airline to surpass an order book of 200 aircraft within just 17 months of commencing operations. The order underscores the airline’s financial stability and reflects Boeing’s confidence in Akasa Air’s future.

Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO of Akasa Air, shared his enthusiasm at the WINGS 2024 airshow, stating, “This large and historic aircraft order puts Akasa on a path of becoming one of the top 30 leading airlines in the world, by the turn of this decade.” He highlighted the significance of the growth as a testament to India’s promising aviation market.

The latest order follows Akasa Air’s initial purchase of 72 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in 2021 and an additional order for 4 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in June 2023. With the recent acquisition, the airline’s total order book now stands at an impressive 226 aircraft.

The airline’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its choice of the 737 MAX family, known for its superior fuel efficiency, reduced carbon emissions, and a 50 percent lower noise footprint. This move aligns with Akasa Air’s dedication to offering a reliable and eco-friendly flying experience.

As Akasa Air continues to soar to new heights, this record-breaking order positions the airline as a major player in the global aviation landscape, with a clear focus on growth, sustainability, and passenger satisfaction.
