Alamo Drafthouse in San Francisco offers lineup of films for holidays
Alamo Drafthouse has once again rounded up a bunch of wild and wonderfully wacky titles for late-night film buffs to enjoy this holiday season.
So, if you need a little break from those Hallmark specials — and want something completely different — then come on out to this spot for out-of-the-ordinary cinema offerings in San Francisco.
In many cases, the films show as part of Alamo’s two cool ongoing weekly series — Terror Tuesday (focused, of course, on horror) and Weird Wednesday (everything you need to know is in the title).
As far as the former goes, gore hounds can check out Dario Argento’s 1975 Italian giallo classic “Deep Red” (also known as “The Hatchet Murders”) on Dec. 5; Eric Freeman going totally off the rails in the holiday slasher flick “Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2” on Dec. 12; and a vastly different (and bloody) kind of “Home Alone” experience in “Dial Code Santa Claus” on Dec. 19.
Over on the Weird Wednesday side, adventurous film fans can see Parker Posey in the Hal Hartley-directed espionage thriller “Fay Grim” on Dec. 6; the one-and-only Dolph Lundgren take on the aliens in “Dark Angel” (also known as “I Come in Peace”) on Dec. 13; and — what the Alamo folks dub “the most underrated wintry thriller of the 1990s” — “Mute Witness” on Dec. 20.
