Between special red carpet appearances and fantastic fan art uniting two Ariels, it’s safe to say that the controversy surrounding The Little Mermaid has faded out as excitement has quickly ramped up. As it stands, Disney’s upcoming live-action is set to appear in theaters in just two weeks. And while the majority of Disney stans undoubtedly already have their tickets secured for opening night, one unexpected Avengers star has confirmed they will be first in line for the underwater spectacle.

In an interview with Variety, acclaimed actress Scarlett Johansson took time out of her busy schedule to speak on Disney’s upcoming live-action — despite going through an intriguing legal battle with the House of Mouse over Black Widow woes. Nevertheless, ScarJo expressed harboring a deep love and appreciation for Disney parks and movies — especially the classic soundtrack for The Little Mermaid. ScarJo said:

“We had annual passes to Disney World, and I have a real passion for the Disney parks. Also, when I was growing up, it was a great time for Disney animation — ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Lion King’ with the incredible soundtrack. Like, I will be pre-buying tickets to ‘The Little Mermaid.’ I actually need to text my sister about that.”

Then again, for those of us that grew up completely idolizing all-things-Disney, it hardly comes as a surprise that a divine Hollywood celebrity would share that same level of passion. After all, it’s truly hard to beat the magic of Disney, and it’s obvious that the entertainment conglomerate looks to keep building success with live-action updates.

And even amidst criticism against the design of Flounder, it’s clear that Johansson is all set to grab her bucket of popcorn and be front and center for Disney’s latest under-the-sea venture. Let’s just hope she texts her sister soon. For those interested, The Little Mermaid swims into theaters on May 26.
