If you use Apple Music on your Galaxy phone or tablet that is rooted, you won’t be able to stream music anymore. It has been revealed that Apple has now started checking the root status of Android-based devices, and Apple Music only works on devices that aren’t rooted.

Latest Apple Music beta version for Android doesn’t work on rooted phones

The latest beta version of Apple Music (4.7) for Android is checking if your Galaxy (or other Android) device is rooted. If it is, the music streaming app won’t work and will show this message: “Apple Music is no longer available for rooted devices.” This was discovered by Reddit user sername_is-taken and reported by X user @AssembleDebug. This might make many Android enthusiasts angry, as some of them root their devices to test things, disable bloatware, and make other changes to their devices.

Apple isn’t the first company to bring restrictions for rooted Android devices. Most banking and mobile payment apps don’t work on rooted Android phones. Even Samsung Pay/Samsung Wallet doesn’t work on rooted Galaxy phones. In fact, some Indian banking apps have stopped working on Android devices that even have the Developer Mode turned on, which is really irritating. Google is even blocking Google Messages RCS on rooted phones.

Apple Music isn’t working on rooted Android devices with its latest beta version, and this restriction could be expanded to the stable version of the app in the future. So, if you have rooted your Galaxy phone or tablet, you will face disruptions.

Speaking of Apple Music, watch our hands-on video of Samsung’s Music Frame wireless speaker below. It can be paired with Samsung’s newer TVs and soundbars for more immersive audio.
