Apple WWDC 2023: New iOS 17 feature that could allow you to clone your voice in just 15 minutes

0 35

Apple’s annual developer’s conference WWDC is here and there is much excitement in the fans around the fans about the new software upgrades that could be announced at the event. It is almost certain that Apple would be announcing a newer version of all its operating systems including iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, macOS and so on.

Most of the new features that will become a part of iOS 17 are already doing the rounds including the new Journalling app, the ability to sideload apps, enhancements to the Control Center and Health app along with modifications to the Always-On display.

However, there is one feature that is expected to be a part of iOS 17 that no one is talking about. The new feature called Personal Voice, was announced as part of Apple’s Accessibility Features by CEO Tim Cook on May 16.

Personal Voice will allow users to create a voice that sounds very similar to their own voice. It uses an on-device machine to keep the user’s information ‘private and secure’.

Users will be able to create their Personal Voice by reading a series of randomised text prompts on their iPhone or iPad for around 15 minutes. In addition, Personal Voice will be integrated with the new Live Speech feature, meaning that users will be able to play a message in their own voice during a call by writing a text prompt.

While the new Personal Voice feature has been specifically designed keeping in mind the needs of people who have recently been diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or other such related illnesses, it could find use cases beyond the original purpose.

Apple has not yet announced that the Accessibility Features will be a part of the iOS 17 release. However, given that iOS 17 and Accessibility Features are expected to be released around the same time, it is highly likely that the new features will be part of Apple’s next-generation operating system.
