Ashley Park, who stars as Mindy in Emily in Paris, announced Monday that she is recovering after suffering from septic shock earlier this month. Park took to Instagram to express gratitude to the people who messaged her kind remarks, their stories of hospitalization, and experiences with sepsis.

“I’m sorry for the delay in responses, just wanted to update that I was medically cleared to fly after responding to treatments, and am now recovering and resting in Paris where I was greeted with this incredible warm welcome from loved ones and my Emily In Paris fam,” Park shared in an Instagram post, which featured photos of her receiving acupuncture treatment and nestling beside Emily in Paris lead Lily Collins.

Park contracted tonsillitis last month, which “spiraled into critical septic shock,” she wrote in a Jan. 19 post. The sepsis later infected “several” of her organs, but she noted her health has improved. Park also thanked her husband Paul Forman in the earlier post: “You calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion all while we were alone on the other side of the world far from those we know.”

The actress thanked Emily in Paris and Netflix Monday, as she waits to be medically cleared to return to work. In the dramedy series, Emily (Collins), who quickly befriends Mindy in a park, attempts to provide an American perspective to a Paris-based marketing firm. The Emily In Paris cast kickstarted production in mid-January. Park has high hopes to rejoin her cast mates.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join them all on set for Season 4,” Park wrote. “I promise I’m breathing through this all and taking as much care of myself as I can to get back into fighting shape.”

Park also portrayed Gretchen in Broadway’s Mean Girls and she starred in the 2024 movie musical as the french teacher. Park’s work also includes Emmy-winning series Beef and Joy Ride.
