Bajaj Auto is all set to launch its Chetak Urbane model and it will come with a lighter battery than the Premium version.
In the latest development from the automobile industry, Bajaj Auto is working on the updated iteration of its Chetak Electric scooter. As per the latest updates, the new Bajaj Chetak electric scooter will come with a smaller battery and is said to be simple and more affordable. The scooter that is presently said to be in the works is called Bajaj Chetak Urbane and will come below the Chetak Premium scooter that is on sale currently. According to a government document, the new Bajaj Chetak Urbane battery pack is 2.48 kWh, while the Premium battery is 2.88 kWh unit.
This change in the battery pack impacts the claimed IDC range which presently stands at 113km, coming down from the 126km figure of the Premium.
About Bajaj Auto’s Chetak electric scooter
Speaking about the features of the scooter, the body and dimensions are said to be identical between the Premium and the Urbane model, which means there will be not many visual differences. However, the brand-new Bajaj Chetak will be lighter in weight.
That being said, the Urbane variant will measure 1,894 mm in length, 725 mm in width, and 1,132 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,330 mm. While the dimensions are almost the same, it will weigh 3 kg less.
The entry variant of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is already being tested on public roads. It is being said that the scooter is likely to get a more cost-effective hub-mounted motor instead of a mid-mounted set-up with a set-down gearbox integrated into the swingarm.

Speaking about the Premium model, Bajaj Auto is gearing up to upgrade to the immensely popular Chetak Electric scooter. From a bigger battery to a longer range and cool features, the scooter will have a lot of features. The Premium model is likely to have a powerful 3.2kWh battery pack.
Further, the TFT colour display of the Chetak Electric scooter will add more to its appeal.
