Ben Affleck’s Dunkin’ Super Bowl Commercial Song Is Streaming on Spotify

0 22

The Boy band drought is finally over. With BTS on hiatus, NSYNC’s reunion only being a ploy for Justin Timberlake’s solo comeback, and One Direction being on an 18-month break for the last six years, the lane has been left wide open — and Ben Affleck is here to fill it as frontman of the DunKings, Dunkin’s coffee-loving boy band. And they’ve released their debut single, “Don’t Dunk Away at My Heart,” is now streaming on Spotify.

The totally real band, whose members also include Matt Damon and Tom Brady, made their debut during the Super Bowl in a star-studded commercial featuring Jennifer Lopez, Jack Harlow, and Charli D’Amelio. Only part of the song made it into the video, but now all three minutes of the 80s pop record are available at the click of a button.

“The DunKings supply a sonic solution to soothe your hearts, minds, and ears,” the group’s Spotify bio reads. “They’re gonna sing about love. They’re gonna sing about Dunkin’. And they’re gonna do it in a way that will have you putting their tracks on repeat for back to back to back listens while you sip and snack on Dunkin’.”

The single, unfortunately, actually sounds kind of good — not in a way that would warrant an official “Hear This” or “Instant Classic” badge on a Rolling Stone review, but in a way that would drive retail workers to quit their jobs just so they would never have to hear it again (see also: Pharrell’s “Happy” and Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance”).

“That is clearly not my idea,” Damon clarified about the commercial during a recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. “We had a lot of fun doing it, though.” He also quipped about the off-hand comment at the end of the video, when he tells Affleck: “Remember how I said I would do anything for you? This is anything.”

As it turns out, that part wasn’t acting at all — just two guys being besties. “I actually said that to him when we were filming,” Damon revealed. “And he just left it in.”
