Benda Darkflag – India’s first motorcycle to be launched with air suspension

0 22

2023 edition of the Auto Expo concluded on 18 January and the most popular auto show in the country was visited by 6,36,743 visitors this year. The number of manufacturers present at the expo was limited this year. Most of the country’s major two-wheeler manufacturers skipped the event for various reasons. The two-wheeler section at the Auto Expo was filled with EVs and Benelli Keeway group’s pavilion was probably the only pavilion to showcase ICE vehicles. One of the major attractions at this pavilion was Benda Darkflag cruiser motorcycle. Why was this motorcycle special? It could be India’s first motorcycle launched with an air suspension.

The video has been uploaded by King Indian on their YouTube channel. Adishwar Auto Group is responsible for brands like Benelli, Keeway, Moto Morini, and Zontes in the Indian market. They had showcased several interesting models at the expo but, the Darkflag was probably the showstopper. This cruise motorcycle attracted visitors for more reasons than one. It is an extremely muscular-looking cruiser motorcycle. The front gets a round headlamp with LED DRL elements in it. The front gets chunky-looking tyres and multi-spoke gloss black alloy wheels.

The design of the tank might remind you of the Indian Scout motorcycle. The design of the motorcycle is like a proper cruiser with low slug seats and relaxed riding position. One of the main attractions on this cruiser motorcycle is the rear suspension. Unlike other motorcycles that we have in the market, this one comes with an air suspension that allows the rider to adjust the ride height of the motorcycle. There is an LED light on the tank that tells the pressure in the suspension of the motorcycle. There is a Sport and Tour mode which changes the power output and adjusts the suspension of the motorcycle. In Tour mode, the air suspension lowers and in Sport mode, it simply comes up.

It is definitely an attractive feature and there are workshops in Punjab that specialises in making such air suspensions for motorcycles. These are aftermarket units but, this is probably the first time we are seeing this feature in a motorcycle straight from the factory. The motorcycle comes with wide and comfortable seats with footrests positioned in the front for a comfortable and relaxed riding position. The rear passenger does get a seat but, we are not sure, if the pillion seat would offer much support.

The tail lamps are placed right under the pillion seat and there are round turn indicators on the rear mudguard too. Coming to the engine, this motorcycle is powered by a 496-cc, V4 engine that generates 53.6 Ps and 42 Nm of peak torque. The motorcycle gets a twin exhaust system and they almost cover side profile of the motorcycle. The instrument cluster on the motorcycle is a single-pod analog unit with a small digital display in it. The Benda Darkflag was showcased at the Auto expo and there are chances that the manufacturer might launch this in India. With all these features it is definitely going to be an expensive motorcycle in the market.
