Bengaluru Mall Charging Rs. 1000 For Premium Parking Goes Viral: But Has Been Doing This For 10 Years!
Finding a parking spot in many major cities is a task in itself. On weekends, places like malls and other shopping spots get crowded, and the issue intensifies. Well, it looks like some people have turned this issue into an opportunity. We have an image from Bengaluru where a mall is charging Rs 1,000 for premium parking. What is more surprising is that the mall has been doing this for the last 10 years.

The image shared here has been posted by Kavi Chaurasia, a former Twitter user, on his profile. The post is from 2015, but it looks like the issue has surfaced online once again. The image is from Bengaluru’s UB City shopping mall. The mall is apparently charging Rs 1,000 per hour. They are calling this service premium parking, and people are actually confused.
One user posted the image and wrote, “Such things exist in India!! And this ain’t the airport”. While some of them found nothing unusual about this money-making strategy, there were others who came up with witty comments. One of them wrote, “Can I park my Nano in this 1000 Rs parking space?”
While another user wrote, “What’s so big deal, if a Porsche, Jugaad, Ferrari owner pays 1000 per hour, they can afford. Alto, 800, WagonR, etc to park at home and come by metro, bus..”

There were users who found it funny. One user wrote, “Bangalore trying to desperately become San Francisco”. Many people wondered what this service was about. Some of them even wrote sarcastically that for Rs 1,000 per hour, their car would get premium treatment like a “Bath”, “Diamond facial”, and also a “Blue Tick”. One of them even wrote, “How about an EMI counter by a BFSI (you know which one) at the parking. Service at doorstep, literally!”
As mentioned above, this is not a new thing at UB City mall, and some of the users have commented that this premium parking has existed since 2012.
We all know that Bengaluru is a city with a decent population of supercars. It looks like a spot for such expensive and exotic car owners. As they would rather think about the safety of their vehicle than worry about the money.

Many users even see this as a strategy by mall owners to discourage people from parking in the mall. Bengaluru is infamous for its traffic jams, and when people come to know about such expensive parking spots, they would leave their cars at home and take public transport like metro.
We are sure that other than the premium parking spot, the mall offers regular parking for regular customers, and that is not going to be as expensive as this premium one. We really think that the parking spot is only for a set of customers, as not everyone would be interested in paying such a large amount to park their vehicle for a few hours at a shopping mall. Most shopping malls in the Delhi NCR region charge you anywhere between Rs 60-70 for four hours on weekdays and Rs 70-90 on weekends.
