Benny Blanco Calls Frank Ocean’s Coachella Set ‘One of My Favorite Shows’

0 38

Benny Blanco had nothing but positive things to say in the wake of the hugely polarizing response to Frank Ocean’s Coachella performance on Sunday.

Benny discussed Frank’s set with TMZ in Beverly Hills Wednesday, calling the show “incredible” and “so inspiring on so many levels.” When asked where the Blonde artist ranked among other 2023 Coachella performers, the producer—who noted he doesn’t “read the internet”—said it was the best set of the first weekend “by far,” and “one of my favorite shows I’ve ever seen.”

Blanco’s high praise echoes that of his “Lonely” collaborator Justin Bieber, who took to Instagram to talk about how he was “blown away” by Ocean’s performance.

“His artistry is simply unmatched, his style, his taste, his voice, his attention to detail. I was deeply moved,” Bieber wrote. “It made me want to keep going and get better as an artist. He continues to set the bar high and gave me a night I will never forget! Thanks Frank.”

On Wednesday, Coachella delivered the news that Frank will not be performing for Weekend 2 after sustaining two fractures and a sprain in his left leg in the week leading up to his headlining set. The announcement came just days after Rolling Stone reported he suffered an ankle injury during rehearsals. Blink-182, which reunited with original guitarist Tom DeLonge for Weekend 1, will take his place.
