Best New Canadian Tracks This Week: Notfortheo, Domanique Grant, and more

0 17

It’s hard to keep up with new tracks every week. With a bevy of songs being released every day, we made a list highlighting some new tracks from Canadian artists.

Notfortheo, “Down”

Notfortheo’s dreamy aesthetic works like a charm on their new song “down” off their freshly released half-life EP, featuring previously released singles “down” and “interlock.”

Kris the Spirit,  “Hall of Fame”

“Hall of Fame” with production from Mike Shabb (who also released “K.D. Stats” this week) sounds like it was recorded in a dungeon, which is about 50% of its charm. The other 50% is Kris’ fierce, yet subdued rapping.

Domanique Grant, “QueenDom”

The second half of Grant’s Queen/Dom EP starts off with a bouncy track, allowing the Toronto rapper to feel herself for two straight minutes.

Kay Bandz, “You Can Tell”

Kay Bandz’s second single leading up to his new album Charge It To The Game is an autocrooning ego booster, packed to the brim with confident verses and a sticky hook.

Chxrry22, “Sacrifice”

Toronto’s Chxrry22 is only a month and change removed from her debut EP The Other Side but that hasn’t stopped her from working on more music. After teasing a cover of The Weeknd’s “Sacrifice,” she has finally released the final version, offering a more sombre, ethereal take on the popstar’s hit.

G Body, “Forest”

Parkdale native G Body opens his newest project City of Dale with a bang, setting the heavy tone for the other seven tracks.
