One of Samsung’s best-selling phones across the North American continent is getting new firmware. Which phone, and which firmware version? Well, in case you guessed that the Galaxy A13 is now receiving the June 2023 update, you are spot on.

More specifically, the carrier version of the Galaxy A13 featuring model number SM-A135U is now getting the June 2023 update in the USA. Among US carriers that roll out the update are: MetroPCS, T-Mobile, Dish, and US Cellular. As of this writing, there’s no sign of the update for the Galaxy A13 at Verizon.

If you want to update the carrier version of the Galaxy A13, tap the notification once it arrives on your phone or open the Settings app on the device, access “Software update,” and tap “Download and install.” Alternatively, if you prefer installing updates manually using your Windows PC, you can download the official firmware files from our website.

More than a routine security patch?

The new update carries firmware version A135USQU5CWE8, and this string of letters and numbers indicates that the new software package contains more than just the June 2023 security patch. However, Samsung has yet to update its changelog feed, so there’s no telling what new features and improvements this firmware could bring to the Galaxy A13.

As far as the June 2023 security patch is concerned, Samsung had it detailed a week ago. It features 53 fixes for Google security flaws found in Android phones and tablets, along with 11 patches for security vulnerabilities that affect Samsung devices exclusively.

Time will tell when the unlocked Galaxy A13 will get a new update in the USA and when the June patch may or may not land on the device outside North America. You can keep an eye out on our firmware page or the homepage to stay up to date with the latest Samsung news.
