Bradley Cooper Makes Hilarious ‘Abbott Elementary’ Cameo

Bradley Cooper did not take home an Oscar on Sunday for Maestro, but the loss was followed up with a winning cameo in the opening scene of the new episode of Abbot Elementary.

Cooper appeared as himself during the episode, popping up as a student’s show-and-tell project.

“Whenever I’m in Philly, you know the deli across the street? That’s my first stop,” Cooper, who is from the Philadelphia area in real life, says. “My dad used to always take me there. They have the best hoagies in the city.”

And while the young student Khalil didn’t know exactly who he was, “Everybody wanted to take a picture with him, so I figured he was famous.”

That’s when Cooper’s extensive acting resume came under question.

“If you’re famous, are you in Spider-Man?” another student asks.

Though Cooper was nominated for three Academy Awards the very same night the episode aired (and has a total of 12 nominations through his career, yet no win), no one seemed to know what movies he has starred in over the years, including the teachers who flocked into the classroom for the Cooper show-and-tell.

“Oh, I just loved you in The Holdovers. It was just so heartwarming,” Sheryl Lee Ralph’s Barbara remarks. “It’s The Hangover, and no, it’s not,” Tyler James Williams’ Gregory corrects.

“Guys, he’s literally in a critically acclaimed film right now,” Quinta Brunson’s Janine emphasizes.

Melissa deadpans: “Mmm-hmmm, Oppenheimer.”

“Is that the one about Napoleon?” Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis) inquires.

“I wasn’t in Oppenheimer,” Cooper says. Janelle James’ Ava asks humorously, “Are you sure? Everybody was in Oppenheimer.”

Reiterating that he didn’t appear in Oppenheimer and looking uncomfortably at the cameras, he then politely looks to bow out of the awkward show-and-tell.

“OK, I do have to get the hoagie,” Cooper says. “So, but this was so much fun and does Khalil get an A?”

Abbott Elementary is currently in its third season. During its run, the show has featured a handful of A-list guests, including Cooper, Taraji P. Henson, Leslie Odom Jr., Ayo Edebiri, Jason Kelce, and more.
