Bruce Springsteen Postpones Three Concerts, Citing Illness

0 47

Bruce Springsteen

and the E Street Band have postponed three shows in a week because of illness.

The latest delayed tour date was a Tuesday show in Albany, N.Y.

Social-media posts from the band didn’t say who was sick or what the illness was. A publicist for the band didn’t provide additional information Monday.

One of the band’s members, guitarist and singer

Steven Van Zandt,

said the illness wasn’t serious. “Just a temporary situation,” he tweeted Saturday. “We will all be back in full force very soon.”

The tour, the first for the group in six years, kicked off Feb. 1 in Tampa, Fla., playing a mix of hits from Mr. Springsteen’s 50-year career, including “Dancing in the Dark” and “Glory Days.”

The postponed Albany stop was meant to be Tuesday, March 14, at MVP Arena. Also postponed were a March 9 concert at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, and a March 12 show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

Fans were asked to keep their tickets. “We are working on rescheduling the date so please hold on to your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled show,” a tweet from Mr. Springsteen’s account said.

Mr. Springsteen, 73 years old, has released 21 studio albums, including his most recent, “Only the Strong Survive,” in 2022. He has won 20 Grammy Awards over the years. He also won an Oscar, for “Streets Of Philadelphia” from the movie “Philadelphia.” He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.

Tickets for the tour went for as much as $5,000 because of dynamic pricing, when prices automatically adjust based on demand.

The current tour has dates until the end of the year in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
