Currently, the brand only sells the e6 MPV and the Atto3 crossover SUV, priced at Rs 29.15 lakh and Rs 33.99 lakh respectively (ex-showroom).

China-based electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has announced the opening of bookings for its electric sedan, the BYD Seal, in India.

The bookings for the Seal started on February 28, with the official launch scheduled for March 5, 2024.

Customers who book the BYD Seal by April 30, 2024, stand a chance to receive a complimentary UEFA match ticket and round-trip flight ticket from India to the match city, as reported by Auto X.

The BYD Seal is expected to become the flagship electric vehicle for BYD in India. Currently, the brand only sells the e6 MPV and the Atto3 crossover SUV, priced at Rs 29.15 lakh and Rs 33.99 lakh respectively (ex-showroom).

The BYD Seal will be offered with single and dual-motor options, providing customers with different power and torque outputs.

The single-motor version can produce 308 bhp and 360 Nm, while the dual-motor version can deliver an impressive 522 bhp and 670 Nm.

The sedan will be available with either a rear-wheel drive or a dual-motor setup, offering WLTP-claimed ranges of 570 km and 520 km respectively for the larger 82.5 kWh battery pack.

For those looking for a more compact option, the Seal will also come with a smaller 61.4 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP-claimed range of 460 km.

Both battery packs support fast-charging, with the smaller pack capable of speeds up to 110 kW and the larger pack supporting 150 kW.

The design of the BYD Seal is influenced by the brand’s Ocean Aesthetics design philosophy, which draws inspiration from the Ocean X concept revealed in 2021.

It boasts a coupe-like roofline, split headlamps with boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, a full-width LED light bar at the rear, and flush door handles.

Inside, the Seal offers a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen in the center, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a heads-up display, and leather upholstery.

It also includes automatic climate control, two wireless charging pads, a drive selector, and basic controls for the heated windshield.

Safety is a key focus for the BYD Seal, making it one of the safest electric vehicles in the Indian market.

It achieved a 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash test, scoring 89 percent for adult occupants, 87 percent for child occupants, 82 percent for Vulnerable Road Users, and 76 percent in Safety Assist.

The tested model was equipped with dual front airbags, belt pre-tensioners, belt load limiters, side airbags, and a center airbag.

It also featured ISOFIX child seat mounts, airbag cut-off switch, seat belt reminders, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Assist System, and Fatigue/Distraction Detection.
