Cher to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: ‘Go You-Know-What Yourself’

“I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars,” Cher said after being repeatedly snubbed by Cleveland institution

Cher is a legend. And she knows she deserves to be treated as such. On Thursday, she visited The Kelly Clarkson Show and dragged the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after reflecting on the fact that she’s only the second artist to have No. 1 songs in seven decades after the Rolling Stones.

“It took four of them to be one of me,” Cher said as Clarkson rose out of her seat and clapped. “And I’m not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!”

“I’m not kidding you,” Cher added. “I was about to say shitting you! You know what, I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars … I’m never going to change my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves.”

Clarkson started to share that she had no idea this fact about Cher, before the music legend interrupted: “Also, can I just say one other thing? I changed music forever with ‘Believe.’” Cher was referring to the fact that the single created a new approach to the use of autotune in music production. (She also has some thoughts about Believe turning 25 this year.)

The music legend’s visit to Kelly Clarkson arrives as she promotes her single “DJ Play a Christmas Song,” which topped the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales Chart. Cher released her holiday album Christmas in late October, featuring songs such as “Home” with Michael Bublé and “Drop Top Sleigh Ride” with Tyga.

The new comments from Cher about the HOF come several weeks after Kate Bush, Sheryl crow, Missy Elliot, George Michael, and Willie Nelson were among the inductees at a ceremony last month.
