What to expect from Season 5

A brand-new season of Call of Duty generally includes a new 100-tier battle pass to level up and unlock more weapons and cosmetics. Seasonal passes usually contain at least one operator and two DLC weapons.

New special events are likely as well, with each of the recent seasons including some form of seasonal camo challenge events. And while Season 4’s superhero crossover with The Boys might be difficult to top, the Call of Duty Twitter account teased that a “redacted” reveal event is scheduled for Season 5, which is presumed to be the official reveal of Call of Duty 2023.

Additionally, the big seasonal updates usually include weapon balancing and bug fixes across all modes.

Warzone

Season 4 introduced the new Vondel map for Warzone, so it’s unlikely any new maps are planned for the final season of Modern Warfare 2. Based on leaks from Call of Duty dataminer HeyImAlaix on Twitter, the Call of Duty 2023 reveal event is suggested to take place on Warzone’s Al Mazrah map as part of DMZ. The leaks also include the reveal that the event and Season 5 storyline could be tied to Shadow Company, and the dataminer suggests that Shadow Company’s former leader Phillip Graves from Modern Warfare 2’s campaign will return as a playable operator with a weapon bundle, but the leaked images were removed from Twitter.

Modern Warfare 2

Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer will likely include more maps and modes in Season 5, but no details are known about the big update. The final Raid episode concluded in Season 4 Reloaded, and we have a full guide for finishing the post-launch story. It’s uncertain if there will be any updates to the cooperative Spec-Ops mode or any more Raid-like episodes to complete in this final season.

For those still needing to unlock the latest DLC weapon, we have a full guide for unlocking Season 4 Reloaded’s MX Guardian shotgun. Most recently, an update was released on July 25 to nerf overpowered weapons in Warzone and Modern Warfare 2, including the Akimbo Snakeshot Basilisk.
