Colin Jost Named White House Correspondents’ Dinner Entertainer – The Hollywood Reporter

The 2024 White House Correspondents’ Dinner is turning to Saturday Night Live for its entertainment this year.

The annual event — a fundraiser for the White House Correspondents’ Association — says that SNL “Weekend Update” host Colin Jost will be this year’s featured entertainer. This year’s WHCA dinner is scheduled for Saturday, April 27.

“Colin Jost knows how to make Saturday nights funny, and I am thrilled Colin will be live from the nation’s capital as the headline entertainer for this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner,” said Kelly O’Donnell, president of the White House Correspondents’ Association and NBC News’ senior White House correspondent.

Jost serves as the co-host of “Weekend Update” alongside Michael Che and also writes for the long-running NBC late night program.

“His sharp insights perfectly meet this remarkable time of divided politics, and a presidential campaign careening toward a rematch,” O’Donnell added. “His smart brand of comedy and keen observation will turn up the heat on the national news media and across the political spectrum. A night of laughs and reflections as our dinner honors freedom of the press as a cornerstone of American democracy. I am beyond excited to welcome one of NBC’s brightest stars to one of Washington’s greatest traditions.”

Last year the WHCA turned to Daily Show veteran Roy Wood Jr. as its featured entertainer, and in 2022 Daily Show host Trevor Noah was the featured entertainer. The 2022 installment of the event was the first one to take place in person after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traditionally, the president and first lady attend the event, with the former using the opportunity to deliver some jokes as well. President Biden attended the 2022 and 2023 installments of the dinner, though President Trump skipped the event while in office.

Proceeds from the event go to support the WHCA and to provide scholarships for students.
