Cops seize Mahindra Thar, Toyota Fortuner & other vehicles for performing stunts on public road

0 54

In the past, we have come across several instances where people have been seen performing dangerous stunts on the road. These stunts have caused inconvenience to other road users and often led to accidents. The reason why many people engage in such stunts is social media. They often post these videos on social media to gain popularity and attract followers. In the last couple of years, we have witnessed a rise in the number of people who perform such stunts for social media attention. Consequently, law enforcement authorities have started taking action against these offenders.

Here, we have a video from Udupi, Karnataka, where the police have seized a Mahindra Thar, a Toyota Fortuner, a Maruti Baleno, and a Hyundai Creta after the drivers were found performing stunts on the road. The video, uploaded by Nikhil Rana on his YouTube channel, shows a modified Mahindra Thar, a Toyota Fortuner, a previous-generation Hyundai Creta, and a Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback being driven recklessly on a public road. These four cars completely occupy the road and do not yield to other vehicles. The drivers can be seen swerving the vehicles left and right at high speeds. There is a Mitsubishi Pajero trailing behind these cars, and the driver somehow manages to overtake them and continue their journey.

The Mahindra Thar in this video is wrapped in blue with a black roof. The driver even takes the SUV onto the median and drives on it. All these drivers were driving their cars solely for the purpose of creating videos for their social media posts. Once the video was posted online, the police officers came across it and noticed the registration number of the Mahindra Thar, which helped them trace the offenders. After locating the owner of the Mahindra Thar – which had a very identifiable blue wrap over its original red paint –  it became easier for the officers to locate the other drivers in the group.

The police arrested all the drivers or owners involved and seized their vehicles. Performing stunts on public roads and driving recklessly is an offense. The video does not mention whether the police have issued any fines or taken any actions, such as suspending the drivers’ licenses, in response to the events shown in the video. It is evident from the video that these four vehicles were being driven dangerously, greatly increasing the chances of the drivers losing control and colliding with other road users. Additionally, in the video, the Maruti Baleno driver can be seen tailgating the Mahindra Thar, which is another dangerous behavior. In the event that the Mahindra Thar applies brakes, the Baleno driver would not have sufficient time to stop and would rear-end the Mahindra Thar.

This is not the first time we have witnessed such incidents. In the past, there have been several instances where the police have issued hefty fines for such offenses. By performing stunts on public roads, this group not only put their own lives at risk but also endangered the lives of other road users. If you genuinely want to record a video of yourself and your car, it is always better to seek private properties or closed roads to avoid any accidents.
