Cow damages Tata Nexon EV charging port; Owner shares a video
Stray cattle is a major problem on the Indian highways. Many such cattle become the reason for major accidents on the highways. Even inside the city limits, the strays can be a problem. Here is an incident shared by Tata Nexon EV owner, who says that the charging port of his Nexon EV was damaged by a stray.

The incident is shared by Sumit on Twitter. Sumit shared a video of the charging port which shows the damage done to it by the cow. The Tata Nexon EV was charging outside his home when a cow came sabotaged the charger. It pulled the plug, while the car was charging.

Interestingly, when the charger is connected to the car, the connector gets locked to ensure that such things do not happen. The cow must have applied a lot of force to get out the charger from the socket. As the visuals show, the connector plug now seems unusable and whole charger might need a replacement now.
The exact cost of the charging cable remains unknown. However, the third-party replacement cables can cost anywhere between Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000.
Stray cattle a menace
In another city, a herd of stray cattle damaged a parked Tata Tigor. The images caught on CCTV show the herd on a rampage run. The Tigor, which was parked on the side of the road got damaged due to the stray cattle hitting the parked vehicle. There were multiple dents and scratches on the body of the Tata Tigor. The owner of the car though that it was hooligans who damaged his vehicle was shocked after he checked the CCTV and found out that it was a big herd of cattle that did it.
Strays are also a major problem on the Indian highways. There’s nothing much that has been done to remove them from the roads. A few years ago, officials in Uttar Pradesh had put high reflective tapes on the horns of the stray cattle to make them more visible at night. However, no step has been taken to remove these hazards from the road as of now.
It is always safe to drive defensively on the Indian roads and be assured of the road ahead before overtaking. One should always be sure and know about the road ahead when overtaking. Many recorded incidents in the past have shown that blindly overtaking can cause massive accidents, especially on Indian roads that are very unpredictable.
It is advisable to charge the vehicle at a safer place. If you cannot find a safe place indoor, the best way is to not leave any gap on the charging side of the vehicle. This will ensure that any big animal cannot find its way to the charger and chew it or remove it like we saw in the video.
