After securing second place in the 2023 ODI World Cup, Mohammed Shami, who secured numerous wickets in the series was on his way to Nainital when he saved a life. Shami posted a story on his Instagram account with a video today showing how he helped a family in a Ford EcoSport that fell from a mountain.

In the short video shared by Shami, you can see a Ford EcoSport off the hill resting against a tree. Mohammed Shami who was on his way to the hill station saw the accident happening in front of him. He quickly stopped his vehicle to help the family.

It looks like the Ford EcoSport could not negotiate a turn and was under-steered to fall off the hill. The car, however, came to a stop from rolling down the hill because of a tree. EcoSport rested against the tree as Shami and others travelling with him helped the family to come out.

The EcoSport was in a precarious situation and any other way could have caused a lot more damage to the vehicle. The occupants would have suffered more serious injuries as well.

Although the Indian variant of the Ford EcoSport was not evaluated by Global NCAP, the international version received a commendable four-star rating from the NCAP. Moreover, in the 2013 Latin-NCAP, the EcoSport scored a flawless 5-star rating. NHTSA in the USA tested the previous iteration of the EcoSport, which earned 4 out of 5 stars. It is noteworthy that the EcoSport in the USA was distinct from that in India, and the safety standards in the USA are highly developed and stringent.

Help accident victims

Nowadays, providing assistance to road accident victims is much simpler than it used to be. The government has taken measures to ensure that those who offer assistance to the victims are not subjected to legal complications, which can encourage motorists in the future to help out in such situations. Furthermore, the 108 emergency ambulance services are operational across India, providing a convenient way to transport victims to nearby hospitals if necessary. It is the responsibility of every motorist to help road accident victims to the best of their ability. In fact, several state governments have introduced cash rewards to incentivize such individuals and promote this noble cause.

Driving in the mountains

Driving in mountainous regions can be an exhilarating and unforgettable experience, but it also involves some inherent risks. Nonetheless, by taking necessary precautions and following some basic rules, one can ensure a safe journey. It is essential to stay within your lane while driving on undivided mountain roads, as many inexperienced drivers tend to swerve into the opposing lane, leading to potentially fatal accidents.

Another crucial factor to keep in mind is overtaking carefully. Overtaking on blind corners can be exceptionally hazardous, resulting in serious accidents. Adhering to these guidelines can help to alleviate the dangers of mountain driving and enable you to relish the excursion responsibly.
