D Double E Rallies The Troops For Massive All-Star Team-Up “Mobb Mentality”

0 31

D Double E has spread his wings quite a bit in recent years, broadening his sound far beyond grime and toying with different styles. For “Mobb Mentality”, the UK music vet’s latest tune, he gets right back to his roots, summoning a roll-call of grime dons—new and old—for a massive barring session like the good ol’ days.

Handling the production himself, D Double calls on Jme, Smila, Jammer, Shorty, LayZ, Blittz, Novelist, Jammin, and Off Endz. Keeping the energy on full bars from start to finish, it’s a mad dash to the end as each MC steps into the spotlight to fire off the bars—all within 4:30 runtime.

The video’s just as direct, too. Director Reece Selvadorai gathers the 10 MCs together in a pitch-black studio space, each of them given their own visual backing—whether it’s a car spluttering flames, a minimalist recording booth, a cloud-filled sky or something more abstract. Minimalist, but still eye-catching, it’s a careful balance of being visually bold without distracting from what’s important.

Peep the visuals for “Mobb Mentality” above and be sure to add the song to your playlists.
