Dave East employs the narrative prowess of none other than DJ Drama on his new album Book of David, out Friday.

The 17-track release finds East making a swift return after the March arrival of his HDIGH EP, the unveiling of which was celebrated with a yacht party in Miami and a surprise LIV Nightclub performance. For Drama, Book of David is the latest in a recent string of Gangsta Grillz releases including projects from Jeezy, Jim Jones, and more. At this year’s Grammy Awards, Drama emerged victorious in the Best Rap Album category for his work on Tyler, the Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost.

On the horizon for Drama is his new album I’m Really Like That, which he recently teased on social media with a teaser clip and a redaction-filled whiteboard showing track titles (see below). Although though no final tracklist has been confirmed, the album is expected to feature possible appearances by Lil Uzi Vert and Freddie Gibbs, among others.

But that’s far from all that’s on Drama’s immediate agenda. In December, the Gangsta Grillz resurgence will continue with the release of a new project from Icewear Vezzo called Paint the CitySpeaking with Eric Diep for Billboard this month, Drama reflected on his artistic journey and the current status of his Gangsta Grillz work, notably declaring the mixtape series the “most important” in history.
