Finally, after waiting for months, the DeLorean Motor Company has revealed its newest creation the Alpha5 pure electric vehicle. The all-new Alpha5 is an immensely beautiful looking EV that boasts an extremely modern and futuristic design. The new coupe also retains some of the iconic cues like the enormous Italdesign-styled top-hinged gullwing doors and back glass louvres from its predecessor – DMC-12.

From the outside, the all-new Alpha5 sports a two-tone finish and a swoopy roofline similar to the automobile shown in the Back to the Future trilogy. On the front end the new EV features a sleek facia with thin LED headlights reminiscence of modern-day EVs. It also gets the famed V shape of the original Delorean in the bottom part of the front bumper. The sculpted bonnet on the Alpha5 also appears to have a little opening which could be there for aerodynamic efficiency purposes.

Talking about the side profile of the EV we can see that it features a set of extremely intricate-looking massive wheels and some sharp body lines. We also have to address the elephant in the room and that is the presence of its ginormous doors. The legendary gullwing doors will take the help of two struts to open and support their sheer size. The Alpha5 is significantly larger than its predecessor, measuring 4,995 mm (196.6 in) long, 2,044 mm (80.4 in) wide, and 1,370 mm (53.9 in) in height when the gullwing doors are closed.

Meanwhile moving on to the back of the car, as already mentioned it pays homage to its predecessor as it features the louvred back glass. Like the front, the rear LED taillamps of the Alpha5 are also pretty sleek and they stretch out from one side to the other. On the lower end of the bumper, we can also see a V shape like the front and also double diffusers.

The interior of the Alpha5 is equally gorgeous, as it features a beautiful, clean and obstructing layout. It gets a very futuristic spaceship-like looking interior with a large screen right in front of the driver along with and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. It also has a simple centre console which boasts an infotainment system that looks like its floating, also just below the screen and its control two cup holder can be spotted. The AC vents on the Alpha5 seem to be hidden to add to the clean look.

DeLorean has been tight-lipped regarding the EV powertrain of the Alpha5, but it says states the car will take 3.4 seconds to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) and max out at an electronically limited 150 mph (241 km/h). It features a battery pack with a capacity of more than 100 kWh, allowing it to go more than 300 miles according to EPA estimates (483 kilometres). All of these specifications pertain to the “basic performance model,” implying that faster versions are on the way. The company has claimed that it has outsourced the manufacturing to Italy, while the powertrain will be supplied by a UK supplier.
