Dolly Parton Announces First-Ever Pet Gala Featuring Song Performances

The star of last year’s Met Gala was a cockroach that was photographed on the famous steps of one of fashion’s biggest events. As Variety reported, 40 minutes after the roach made its debut, it was sadly stepped on. But thankfully, country icon Dolly Parton understands the importance of making space for non-humans in fashion. On Feb. 21, the two-hour special Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala will premiere on CBS and Paramount+.

“I have hosted or co-hosted many shows throughout my career, but I have never been more excited about co-hosting a show than I am about being part of this pet gala,” Parton shared in a statement. “I love animals. I’ve got all kinds, and of course, I’ve always had little dogs around, and big ones! We’re going to have some of all kinds and colors on the show, and there is nothing more fun to me than when little animals do what they do best, and I’m looking forward to it!”

Pet Gala will roll out the pink carpet for those pets to slay and play. Kelly Osbourne and Rachel Smith will serve as runway correspondents, while Jane Lynch will co-host the event.

Parton is set to perform four country classics, including “9 to 5,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Puppy Love,” and “Jolene,” with some help from Lainey Wilson, Carly Pearce, Chris Janson, and KC of the Sunshine Band.

Additional guests will be announced in the lead-up to the event, but the current roster includes Iain Armitage, Drew Barrymore, Kristen Bell, Kristin Chenoweth, Margaret Cho, Neil Patrick Harris, Carson Kressley, Jim Nantz, and Jessica Simpson.

The dogs strutting the pink carpet will be fashioned in looks inspired by Parton’s most iconic outfits as well as pieces from Doggy Parton, her collection of apparel and accessories for pups.

“There is so much fun stuff,” Parton added. “And I know all the animal lovers out there are going to love this show.”
