Drake Tells Nicki Minaj He’s Not Considering Retirement Anytime Soon

0 56

On the debut episode of Nicki Minaj’s Queen Radio on Amp, Drake revealed if he’s considering retirement following the release of Honestly, Nevermind.

Drizzy offered fans a stylistic pivot with his latest record, but as he told his former Young Money labelmate he’s not even close to considering leaving rap or music in general behind. “I’m not at that point where I even consider that being an option,” Drake said. “One of the best feelings I have in my life is completing a song or project. And by the way those things are painful as well. A lot of nerves, a lot of confidence wavering. But I feel like I’m reaching a new level of fun. I’ve reached a new level of comfortability where I want to try things. Like this last album, I put out something I wanted to do to challenge myself.”

It would also be unwise for Drake to retire at this point, because he’s continued to dominate the charts with each of his projects. On Monday, Chart Data confirmed that he became the first artist in history to earn an astonishing 100 top 20 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

The chat between the two comes not long after they reunited on stage for Drizzy’s Young Money reunion show, where they were also joined by Lil Wayne. The rappers touched upon how it felt to perform alongside one another again, as it has been quite some time since they shared a stage.

“I mean aside from the fact that just to watch you both perform and the performance you put on just reminded me there is so much distance between our thing and other things,” said Drizzy, who last teamed up with Nicki and Wayne on 2021’s “Seeing Green” from the reissue of Nicki’s Beam Me Up Scotty mixtape. “My soul was warm at the end. I felt genuinely so much gratification, you know? Really sentimental. I was just so happy to see my people.”
