“It’s a really beautiful experience to take this man kind of from a tough place into the light,” The Bear star said

Ebon Moss-Bachrach singled out Taylor Swift and Olivia Colman in his Critics Choice Awards acceptance speech Sunday night after winning for Best Supporting Actor in a comedy series for his role in The Bear.

“I’ve got to thank my two special scene partners Olivia Colman and Taylor Swift,” Moss-Bachrach said, also thanking the show’s director Chris Storer, several other creatives from the show and his wife and children.

“This is such a privilege to play this part, it’s a really beautiful experience to take this man kind of from a tough place into the light,” he said. “It’s not often you get to do that, to play joy.”

In thanking Swift, Moss-Bachrach was alluding to one of the show’s most memorable needle drop moments in which his street tough and slightly worse for wear character Richie triumphantly sings along to “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” in his car during the fan favorite episode “Forks.” Colman guest-starred in that episode as Chef Terry, an accomplished chef running one of the best restaurants in the world, and who briefly crossed paths with Richie when the latter apprenticed at her restaurant for a week.

Moss-Bachrach, several of his The Bear cast members and the show itself are poised for a strong awards season. The show already won for Best Television Series — Musical or Comdy at last week’s Golden Globes while Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri took home best actor and actress.

Heading into tonight’s Primetime Emmys, Moss-Bachrach is up for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series, White for outstanding lead actor and Edebiri for supporting actress, while The Bear itself is up for outstanding comedy series.
