Samsung’s new Galaxy Book 4 laptops bring a few upgrades over the Book 3 models, and perhaps the most significant change consists of new AMOLED displays. The entire Galaxy Book 4 series announced today has touchscreens.

The Galaxy Book 3 lineup had non-touch displays, save for the 360 model. But for the new generation laptops, Samsung has added touchscreen capabilities across the board. The Galaxy Book 4 Pro, Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360, and Galaxy Book 4 Ultra all have touchscreens.

Samsung has yet to announce a base Galaxy Book 4 model (non-Pro), and if there is one, it remains to be determined if it, too, has an upgraded touch AMOLED panel.

S Pen remains a 360-model feature

With touchscreen controls enabled across the entire lineup, Book 4 Pro and Ultra users can seamlessly navigate the Windows 11 Home operating system using the backlit keyboard, touchpad, and AMOLED screen.

Regardless of where you stand on the idea of laptops with touchscreens, this feature sounds particularly useful for Samsung’s laptops, considering that all three Book 4 models support Second Screen. The latter allows users to turn a Galaxy tablet into a second screen for the laptops, and with touch controls now enabled, the Galaxy Book 4 Pro and Ultra user experience should feel more consistent when utilizing Second Screen.

It’s worth noting that even though touch controls are now supported by all three Book 4 laptop models, the S Pen appears to have remained a 360-exclusive feature. It makes sense, given that the Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 is the only version equipped with a 360-degree hinge that can enable a tablet form factor.

The new Book 4 laptops have AMOLED WQXGA+ displays with 400 nits of brightness, 120% DCI-P3 color volume, and a variable refresh rate of 48-120Hz.

Samsung will release the new Galaxy Book 4 Pro and Ultra laptops in Korea on January 2. The laptops will then gradually land in more select markets. Prices start at 2.89 million won ($2,234) for the Galaxy Book 4 Pro and can go as high as 5.09 million won ($3,933) for the beefiest Book 4 Ultra configuration.
