The much-awaited Apple ‘Far Out’ event is just a few hours away with the tech giant set to unveil the new iPhone 14 series along with the Apple Watch Series 8 and the AirPods Pro 2. The Cupertino-based tech behemoth will include four devices in the upcoming iPhone 14 series which are — iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to have displays of the same size which will be one of the few common features between the two models. However, some features will be exclusive only to the Pro Max variant and won’t be available for the Plus model.

iPhone 14 Pro Max vs iPhone 14 Plus: New display technology
Apple is expected to announce the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and a new 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus at today’s event. However, the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max won’t be using the same display technology.
The iPhone 14 Plus is expected to use the same display technology as the iPhone 13 with a 60Hz OLED panel. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is rumoured to arrive with a new display design that will ditch the notch at the top of the screen and will be replaced with a pill-shaped cutout that will house the Face ID sensors and the new front-facing camera.

Moreover, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is also expected to have a ProMotion display with variable refresh rates that will range from 120Hz to 1Hz. As a result, the most expensive iPhone model will have an always-on display (AOD) for the first time.

iPhone 14 Pro Max vs iPhone 14 Plus: More powerful A16 Bionic chip
The company is reportedly going to use the A15 Bionic chip for the mid-range iPhone 14 models and will include a new A16 Bionic chip only for the Pro variants.

Apart from this, the mid-range models of the iPhone 14 lineup are also likely to feature an enhanced version of the A15 Bionic chip which will include more RAM and a better GPU.

iPhone 14 Pro Max vs iPhone 14 Plus: Notable camera improvements
The iPhone 14 Pro models may feature a new 48MP wide lens compared to the 12MP lens of the current lineup. This change will allow iPhones to capture and record 8K video for the first time. Moreover, the ultra-wide lens on the 14 Pro models might also have a larger sensor to capture more light which will result in better photos and videos in low-light situations.

Furthermore, it is important to note that features like ProRAW photos and ProRes videos will be exclusive to the Pro models. So, photography enthusiasts and professionals should opt for the iPhone 14 Pro Max model instead of going for the Plus variant.
