first-gen Mahindra XUV500 neatly restored to look brand new

Mahindra XUV500 was one of the most popular SUV in the market when it was launched. It became so popular that it had a long waiting period. It was not like any Mahindra that was sold in the market till that date. It was futuristic, premium and offered a comfortable ride to the occupants. It was a proper three row SUV and even came with AWD options. over the years, Mahindra made changes to the XUV500 and updated the featured and looks. With the launch of XUV700, Mahindra decided to discontinue the XUV500 from the market but, even today there is a fan base for this SUV. Here we have a video where a rusty old Mahindra XUV500 is neatly restored like brand new.

The video has been uploaded by BROTOMOTIV on their YouTube channel. In this video, a first generation Mahindra XUV500 arrives at the workshop for restoration work. The car was first inspected by the staff before taking the job. They found that the bonnet, doors of the SUV had rust issues beyong any repair. So they took the job and ordered all four doors and the bonnet for XUV500 from Mahindra. Once the parts ordered had arrived at the workshop, they started working on it. They removed the bumper, grille and headlamp to see if there are any other parts with rust issues.

On opening the bumper, they found rust on panels. The rust issue on this XUV500 was much more than they expected. The fenders, floor of the car and even the door channels on the car had rust in it. All these rusted panels were cut and replaced with new metal pieces. The seats and dashboard was completely removed from the car to see if there is any more panels that is facing rust issue. The vlogger who is also one of the owner of the workshop mentions that it does not make any sense to restore a car if the cost of restoration is much more than the actual value of the car.

After the rusted panels were all replaced, they started working on the dents on the car. There were minor dents on it and the car was all fixed using a dent puller machine. After this, a thin coat of putty was applied and the excess putty was removed using sander. Once this was done, a coat of prime was applied on the whole car. This included the interiors in which many metal panels were replaced. Once the primer was applied, the car was taken to the paint booth and the owner had opted to go with white shade only.

It was however different from the one which originally came with XUV500. It was a shade which Lexus offers in their cars. The car was completely painted in white and all the panels like the bumper, bonnet, doors were all painted individually. This helped them achieve a factory finish. The alloy wheels on this SUV remained the same however the silver colour wheels were painted black for a contrasting look. The finished product was looking brilliant and it felt like a brand new SUV just out from the production line.
