Besides metros like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai, the facility will also be available in smaller cities like Guwahati, Ludhiana, Nagpur, Siliguri, Vijayawada and Coimbatore, the firm said in a statement.
“We are working to provide same day delivery to 20 cities…We will further scale it in the months to come, to include more cities and more categories, including large appliances,” said Hemant Badri, senior vice president, head of supply chain, customer experience and re-commerce business at Flipkart.
For orders placed before 1 pm, products will be delivered before midnight of the same day, the statement added. The service will be available to all customers with no extra charge.
The move by Flipkart also follows firms like Swiggy, which specialises in fast-paced delivery through its food and quick-commerce businesses, experimenting with delivering products from categories like home and kitchen, electronics, and toys, which were earlier mostly offered by ecommerce firms, through its Swiggy Mall vertical.

At the same time, grocery-delivery firm BigBasket cut down the timeline for its slotted deliveries – which normally happened in a few hours or on the next day – to less than two hours, chief executive Hari Menon told customers in an email on January 19. Flipkart also offers quick-delivery services under a subscription programme called Flipkart VIP. The introduction of the service in 2023, priced at Rs 499 for a year, was closely followed by Amazon rolling out a shopping-only version of its Prime membership, called Prime Shopping Edition, priced at Rs 399 per year.
Amazon offers same-day, one-day and two-day deliveries under the Prime subscription. The original Prime subscription, which is priced at Rs 1,499 per year, but is often discounted to Rs 999, provides several other benefits, like access to the OTT platform Prime Video, music streaming app Prime Music, Prime Reading and Prime Gaming.
Flipkart VIP does not offer any entertainment services, but provides special offers and benefits for members using the Walmart-owned company’s travel unit, Cleartrip, among other benefits.
