Apple CEO Tim Cook and Tesla CEO Elon Musk are some of the high-profile names who are expected join the dinner hosted for US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping in San Francisco. The dinner which is being hosted by National Committee on US China relations and US-China Business Council will take place during the 30th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on Wednesday.

The forum is expected to witness hundreds of business leadeers from various fields like banking and technology attending while President Xi could also make a speech, reported CBS News.

According to a Bloomberg report, the top business leaders attending the dinner include Tim Cook, Elon Musk, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, Blackstone CEO Steve Schwarzman, Visa CEO Ryan McInerney are some of the leaders attending the dinner.

Other tech leaders that are expected to attend include Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon and Broadcom CEO Hock Tan, the Bloomberg report noted while quoting sources.

Very few details about the dinner have emerged so far with little clarity from the hosts about the Chinese leaders attending the event along with its location. However, reportedly, some of Xi Jinping’s ‘old friends’ from Iowa have been invited to the high profile event.

The dinner with business leaders will provide an opportunity to the Chinese President to boost declining US investment in his country. Meanwhile, it also gives a chance to the top entrepreneurs to meet the top leader of world’s second-largest economy.

China is a major market for many top US companies including Apple which sees around 1/5th of its sales coming from China and manufactures a host of devices in the country. However, amid rising tensions between Washington and Beijing, the Cupertino based tech giant has been caught in a tiff with the Chinese government blocking the use of iPhones and other foreign technology at state-backed companies. Moreover, the competition from homegrown Huawei has also led to Apple’s sales slowing down recently in China.
