In May 2020, the Galaxy A51 was the best-selling Android smartphone, beating the Galaxy S20 series and even cheaper devices like the Galaxy A10s and A20s. In only one quarter, Samsung sold more than 6 million Galaxy A51 units, and the phone covered an Android phone market share of 2.3%. Needless to say, the Galaxy A51 is, or at least used to be, among Samsung’s most popular phones, and now, countless users are getting a new firmware update.

More specifically, the Galaxy A51 LTE, featuring model number SM-A515F, is getting the May 2023 security update. The latter carries firmware version A515FXXS7HWD1, and as you can probably tell by the letter “S” in the firmware number, this is a routine security patch with no new features attached. But better security should always be a welcomed addition.

For now, the update is rolling out in South America

As of this writing, the May 2023 security update is available for the Galaxy A51 (LTE) in Colombia and Brazil. Nevertheless, as is usually the case, the update should reach other markets and A51 variants soon.

Galaxy A51 users in markets where Samsung has made the update available should get a notification on their phones. Or they can try to trigger the update manually by opening the Settings app, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.”

Another option for readers who prefer manual updates through their Windows PCs is downloading the official firmware files from our website.
