Samsung has confirmed a March 11 launch of the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35. The confirmation came from Samsung India’s X/Twitter handle. The company has also put up a microsite where you can register to get notified ahead of the launch event next Monday. The site reveals a few interesting details about the devices, including Android updates.

Samsung announces a launch date for the Galaxy A55 and A35

The Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 will lead Samsung’s mid-range smartphone lineup for 2024. Over the past couple of months or so, the two upcoming phones have been subject to a plethora of leaks. We at Android Headlines exclusively leaked the official renders and key specs of the devices on a few occasions. After a series of extensive leaks, the company has officially announced a launch date for the mid-range duo.

According to Samsung India, the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 will go official on Monday, March 11, at 2:30 PM local time (IST). That’s 1:00 AM PT, 4:00 AM EST, and 9:00 AM GMT on Monday. If history is any indication, the devices won’t be available for purchase for at least another week. Their US release may take even longer. Last year, the Galaxy A54 broke cover on March 15, was released globally on March 24, and hit the US stores on April 6.

While we may not get a release date before the official launch, Samsung has already confirmed a few rumors about the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35. Both handsets will feature the Key Island design with a bump on the frame around the power and volume buttons. A teaser posted on X also shows an antenna line on the frame of the Galaxy A55, confirming a metallic build. The other model still has a plastic frame.

Samsung also touts enhanced low-light photography, a powerful processor for gaming, Knox Security, water resistance (likely IP67), and four years of Android OS updates with five years of security updates. This is turning out to be the bare minimum support for Galaxy devices. Starting with the Galaxy S24, flagship models are guaranteed Android and security updates for seven years. Midrangers aren’t getting extended support just yet.

The Galaxy A55 may have a 12GB RAM variant

A metallic frame, a newer processor, and improved photography features may not be the only notable upgrades for the Galaxy A55. Samsung also seemingly plans to give you a 12GB RAM variant of the phone, according to a new Geekbench entry. It would be the first mid-range phone to feature 12GB of RAM. Not a long wait now before the Korean firm officially uncovers the device.
