Galaxy A55 could come with 12GB RAM, a first for Samsung’s mid-range lineup

Now here’s something we weren’t expecting. Multiple new benchmark entries for the Galaxy A55 on the Geekbench website have revealed that the mid-range device could have a variant with 12GB of RAM!

Samsung has always kept 12GB of RAM exclusive to select flagship phones, but it will be a first for a mid-range Samsung phone. In fact, the A55 will have more RAM than even the base Galaxy S24, which doesn’t exactly come cheap, making this all the more impressive.

It’s unclear why Samsung chose to put more RAM in a mid-range phone than one of its flagship devices, but it’s a welcome addition. The 12 gigs of RAM will go well with the Exynos 1480, which will be Samsung’s first mid-range chip with AMD-powered graphics.

It should also help with UI smoothness, which has been an Achilles heel for Samsung’s mid-range and budget phones for the longest time, and reduce stutter, especially when the device is pushed to its limits.
